Nazan Eckes announces a two-month break from TV. The RTL presenter wants to take care of her father, who has Alzheimer's disease.

Nazan Eckes (44), presenter of the RTL magazine "Extra", is taking a break from next Monday (January 11th). In a message from the broadcaster, Eckes explains that she wants to look after her father for two months and support her mother. "Unfortunately, my father's Alzheimer's disease has worsened dramatically in recent months, so that I and my siblings have to look after our parents intensively and now as a family have to be there especially for one another," explains the moderator, for whom a replacement has already been found has been.

Her colleague Jana Azizi (32), who joined the "RTL aktuell" sports team in March 2020, will take over until February. They also know RTL viewers as the presenter of "Punkt 12", "Guten Morgen Deutschland" and the lifestyle magazine "Deluxe" on n-tv. For her it is a matter of course to relieve her colleague, explains Azizi in a statement. From March Nazan Eckes will be back in front of the camera for "Extra".
