Present since season 1, Sean Murray, who plays Special Agent McGee, returned in a podcast to an injury he suffered during the filming of season 2 of “NCIS”.
He is now one of the last historical actors of NCIS: Special Investigations. It’s now been more than 20 years since Sean Murray played Agent McGee in the famous American detective series. And in 21 seasons, the actor has accumulated numerous filming anecdotes, which he does not fail to share with fans whenever the opportunity arises.
Sean Murray suffers after-effects of injury
Guest on the podcast Off Duty: An NCIS Rewatch, in which Michael Weatherly (DiNozzo) and Cote de Pablo (Ziva) watch old episodes of the series, Sean Murray recounted one of the injuries he sustained on filming season 2 of NCIS.
In this episode, which aired in 2004, his character embarked on a frantic chase to catch a suspect and ended up driving through an automatic car wash stand. An action scene which caused Sean Murray to suffer a serious injury.
“I was running through the car wash stall, which I’ve done many times and it was a real stall”, he explained. “I remember taking a sharp right turn… my shoes are slipping out from under me because I’m running fast. I fall on my right hand.”
“And, you know, like many other actors, you get up and you keep doing your thing. You don’t really realize what you’re doing until the scene is over. To this day, I have very limited mobility in my right thumb.“. A small injury which of course did not prevent the actor from continuing to play the character of McGee.
Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo, heroes of their own series
A few months ago, Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo announced the upcoming arrival on the Paramount+ platform of a series around DiNozzo and Ziva. Entitled NCIS: Tony & Ziva, this new police fiction will see our two heroes flee with their daughter across Europe after being targeted.
They will do everything to try to find out who decided to attack them. At the moment, we do not yet know if any actors from NCIS: Special Investigations will make appearances in this new series.
However, you will have to be patient to discover NCIS: Tony & Ziva since filming will only begin this summer in Budapest, for broadcast at the end of 2024 – beginning of 2025.
