NCIS: bad news for one of the series in the police franchise

The “NCIS” franchise is canceling one of the series in its universe: the Hawaiian office will close its doors at the beginning of May, at the end of the third season of the “NCIS: Hawaii” program.

Unexpected end clap for NCIS: Hawaii. According to The Hollywood Reporter, after three seasons and fifty-four episodes, the spin-off of NCIS: Special Investigations (season 21 of which can be seen from May 11 on M6) will end in a few days in the United States, while the channel CBS has decided on its cancellation within a franchise which remains the spearhead of the channel’s fiction. It was the “NCIS” program which had the shortest broadcast.

Third NCIS series canceled

Despite rather solid audiences (around 10 million consolidated viewers per episode), despite the arrival of LL Cool J (who reprized his character from NCIS: Los Angeles) at the start of season 3, despite the guest presence of Vanessa Lachey in NCIS to celebrate the 1000th episode of the franchise a few days ago, the Hawaiian office will therefore close its doors on May 6.

NCIS: Hawaii is the third spin-off canceled by the channel, after NCIS: Los Angeles (2009 – 2023) and NCIS: New Orleans (2014 – 2021). Another project, NCIS: Red, was also stopped after the broadcast of a two-part pilot in May 2013. Vanessa Lachey and her partners have not yet reacted to this information on social networks.

Promising new projects

Fans can nevertheless rest assured, the NCIS franchise still has a bright future ahead of it, with the continuation of the “mother series” NCIS for a twenty-second season (after a finale which could threaten one of the main characters) and NCIS: Sydney in season 2, but also the development of new stories.

NCIS: Origins will tell the story of Gibbs’ youth (with Austin Stowell in the lead role and Mark Harmon narrating), while NCIS: Europe will feature the reunion of Tony DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly) and Ziva David (Cote De Pablo) . There are therefore still many investigations to come, and above all (very) appreciated characters to find.

In this respect, the logic of “offices” could entirely allow Jane Tennant (Vanessa Lachey) to invite herself into some of these new series, as she did in NCIS recently, or as LL Cool J did precisely by joining the Hawaiian team.
