NCIS Hawaii on M6: the interpreter of Kai also plays in the most expensive series of all time

M6 has been broadcasting the detective series “NCIS: Hawaii” with Vanessa Lachey and Alex Tarrant for several weeks now. Did you know that the latter had almost not played in the series because of a conflict of schedule?

NCIS: Hawaii, the new spin-off of the NCIS franchise: Special Investigations is broadcast every Saturday evening from 9:10 p.m. on M6. Worn by Vanessa Lachey, the series follows special agent Jane Tennant, a single mother torn between her professional life and her family responsibilities, who is at the head of the NCIS Pearl team.

For the occasion, the actress gives the reply to Alex Tarrant, a young New Zealand actor who gets his first major role in an American production here. He plays Kai Holman, a new agent from Hawaii who joins Jane’s team in the first episode.

Alex Tarrant almost didn’t star in NCIS: Hawaii

And if it had been more than 8 years since the actor had started his career in his country of origin, it was not until 2020, during the pandemic, that it really took a turn since in addition to having was chosen to join the NCIS: Hawaii team, he joined the cast of Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.

In season 1 of this Amazon Prime Video blockbuster, which has been available since September on the platform, Alex Tarrant plays Valandil, an apprentice in the Númenor navy who wants to become a Seakeeper.

The actor also almost did not play in NCIS: Hawaii because of a conflicting schedule. When Alex Tarrant found out he’d been cast in the detective series, and therefore had to go to Hawaii, he was still filming The Rings of Power in New Zealand, and the production didn’t want him to. released from his contract.

However, he managed to negotiate with the production of the Amazon series so that they let him go early, and the teams of NCIS: Hawaii used an understudy until his arrival on the set. It was indeed unthinkable for the production to call on another actor.

He blew us away,” explained Christopher Silber, the executive producer of NCIS to our colleagues at Stuff. “He brought a depth to the character that we couldn’t pass up. Everyone agreed that Alex was our only choice. He brings humanity to Kai’s character.”
