NCIS Hawaii on M6: where was the series filmed?

M6 is launching this Saturday evening the broadcast of “NCIS: Hawaii”, the newcomer to the “NCIS: Special Investigations” franchise. Was the detective series actually filmed in Hawaii?

M6 is launching this Saturday evening the broadcast of NCIS Hawaii, a newcomer to the famous franchise NCIS: Special Investigations. Created by Christopher Silber and Jan Nash, who were already at the origin of NCIS: New Orleans, as well as Matt Bosack (screenwriter on SEAL Team), this third spin-off of the cult series follows a new team of special agents, working at the Pearl Harbor office, right in the heart of the Hawaiian paradise islands.

Jane Tenant (Vanessa Lachey), a single mother torn between her personal life and her professional life, leads the NCIS Peal team with an iron fist, made up of agents Kai Holman (Alex Tarrant), Jesse Boone (Noah Mills), Lucy Tara (Yasmine Al-Bustami) and Ernie Malik (Jason Antoon).

Where was the series filmed?

As the title of the series suggests, NCIS: Hawaii was filmed on the islands of the Hawaiian archipelago. A location that the American channel CBS did not choose by chance, since it had a studio on site.

Filming takes place on the sets of Hawaii 5-0, another series of the channel which was canceled in 2020 at the end of its season 10. The production therefore decided to reuse the premises to film NCIS: Hawaii.

The outdoor scenes are filmed on the different islands of the archipelago, the teams taking advantage of the paradisiacal settings. Some shots were taken at Joint Base Pearl Harbor Hickam, an American military base adjacent to Honolulu.

The island of Oahu as well as the beach of Waikiki, a very touristic place in Honolulu, served as filming locations for several scenes, as did the Kualoa Ranch, which is known to have hosted the Jurassic Park teams.

Discover the first two episodes of NCIS: Hawaii this Saturday February 18 from 9:10 p.m. on M6.
