NCIS Hawaii: the new series of the franchise already available in France before its broadcast on M6

Expected in the coming months on M6, “NCIS Hawaii”, the new series derived from the “NCIS” franchise, is available in preview on Salto. With a female heroine on the program (a first!), investigations and heavenly settings.

Even before its broadcast on M6, scheduled for 2023, NCIS Hawaii, the third spin-off of the NCIS franchise, is available today in France on Salto.

The streaming platform has just put the entire first season of this new series online, which has 22 episodes and should delight lovers of detective fiction.

NCIS, which recently entered its twentieth season across the Atlantic without Mark Harmon, had already spawned two spin-off series over the years: NCIS Los Angeles, which has a total of 14 seasons to date, and NCIS New Orleans, which s ended last year after 7 seasons.

But, since September 2021, the American channel CBS has also been broadcasting NCIS Hawaii, which is led by actress Vanessa Lachey and takes us, as its name suggests, to the heart of the Hawaiian Islands, where NCIS Pearl agents are investigating.

The first series in the NCIS universe worn by a woman

Forget Gibbs, Callen or Sam, and discover Special Agent Jane Tennant, who must juggle her life as a single mother of two children and her position of responsibility within the Pearl Harbor naval base since she is in charge of the NCIS Pearl team.

A boss with a strong character who is nonetheless close to her team of investigators. Around this heroine embodied by Vanessa Lachey, Salto subscribers will find agents Kai Holman, Jesse Boone, Lucy Tara and Ernie Malik, camped respectively by Alex Tarrant (The Rings of Power), Noah Mills (The Brave), Yasmine Al- Bustami (The Originals) and Jason Antoon (Claws).

In addition to offering everything that fans of the NCIS franchise are entitled to expect, that is to say investigations against the backdrop of the American army, a team with obvious chemistry despite very distinct characters, action scenes, and a bit of humour, this new version also enjoys the paradisiacal settings of Hawaii (which will bring back good memories to aficionados of Hawaii 5-0). And a bit of novelty in the characterization of its characters.

For the first time, a series from the NCIS franchise is indeed worn by a woman – the other three series starring Mark Harmon, the duo Chris O’Donnell-LL Cool J, and Scott Bakula – and we want to say that it was so much. Especially since Jane Tennant quickly establishes herself as an endearing heroine.

Other good points: NCIS Hawaii is interested in Hawaiian culture through agent Kai Holman. And even offers us an LGBTQIA+ love story between the characters of Lucy and Kate Whistler, a DIA agent played by Tori Anderson (No Tomorrow).

Diversity and a bit of audacity in a formula which, apart from that, remains fairly formatted. This does not prevent NCIS Hawaii from being an honest procedural series cut to please viewers who appreciate the various detective fictions of CBS, from NCIS to FBI, via Blue Bloods or Elementary.
