While the project was announced for more than a year, the new spin-off of “NCIS”, entitled “NCIS: Sydney”, has finally started filming. The detective series will follow an Australian NCIS team.
We had started to lose hope… In February 2022, the Paramount+ streaming platform announced that NCIS: Special Investigations was going to be entitled to a new spin-off, headed by Shane Brennan, creator and showrunner of NCIS: Los Angeles.
This first international iteration of the franchise, titled NCIS: Sydney, was to take place, as its name suggests, in Australia. But since this announcement, there was radio silence on the project. Even to the point that fans were starting to lose hope, thinking the show had been scrapped. Still, NCIS: Sydney was quietly on its way.
According to information from, the filming of the first international spin-off of NCIS began since the beginning of May in North Bondi, a coastal suburb of Sydney. Two comedians, as well as a film crew, were spotted filming scenes by the locals.
If for the moment, Paramount + has not communicated on the casting of this new detective series, it would seem that Tuuli Narkle and Sean Sagar are the two actors present in the images revealed by the site. The latter, who was in the cast of Destiny: the Winx saga, will star in The Covenant, by Guy Ritchie, alongside Jake Gyllenhaal. The film will be available on Amazon Prime Video on June 23.
Few details have been revealed about this new spin-off; except that NCIS: Sydney will use Australian actors and producers and follow local investigations. The series is expected to launch in 2023 on Paramount+. It remains to be seen whether the series will be offered simultaneously in France, the platform having been available there for a few months.
NCIS, a strong brand for CBS
Despite its twenty years of existence, NCIS: Special Investigations continues to be one of the channel’s flagship series, remaining one of the most watched dramas on the network. It is therefore no surprise that the fiction now worn by Gary Cole (Desperate Housewives) was renewed for season 21 last February.
NCIS: Hawaii, the latest spin-off, got a season 3. For its part, NCIS: Los Angeles was canceled in January after 14 seasons and 322 episodes. Its final episode was broadcast on May 21 in the United States.
Season 20 of NCIS is currently broadcast every Saturday evening from 9:10 p.m. on M6. The two new episodes are followed by the broadcast of season 2 of NCIS: Hawaii.
