The attacks on the Russian region of Belgorod have not stopped for a week. Now the local governor is not the only one reporting a fatality. A man also died much further from the border with Ukraine.

According to the local authorities, at least two people were killed when Russian border regions with Ukraine were shelled again. A security guard was killed and other people wounded in an attack in the area around Schebekino in the Belgorod region, said Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov. In the Kursk region, according to Governor Roman Starovoit, a construction worker was killed by shellfire.

Dozens of attacks had already been reported in the Belgorod region on Friday. According to the Russian army, there were battles between fighters who had entered Ukraine and the Russian army at the beginning of the week.

Russian authorities have now also reported a number of drone attacks on Russian territory. In the western Russian region of Pskov, an administration building of an oil pipeline was damaged by an explosion. According to initial information, the building was damaged in an attack by two drones, Governor Mikhail Vedernikov said. According to him, the incident happened early in the morning near the village of Litvinovo, about ten kilometers from the Belarusian border.

According to information from the Telegram channel Basa, which is known for its good contacts with the Russian security forces, the alleged drone attack was aimed at the oil pumping station of the Russian pipeline operator Transneft in Pskov. Accordingly, there was also an attack on an oil refinery near Erochino, in the western Russian region of Tver. The region’s press service said a drone had crashed near Erochino, and there were no injuries.

Reports of drone strikes in Russia have increased in recent weeks, particularly in areas bordering Ukraine. According to Russian information, two drones damaged buildings in the center of the southern Russian city of Krasnodar on Friday. Moscow blames Kyiv and its Western backers for the increased number of attacks and acts of sabotage. Ukraine has denied any involvement.
