If there’s one thing the Final Fantasy XIV community doesn’t lack, it’s talent! In a video, around 1,400 members perform “Close in the Distance,” the latest expansion’s signature song.

This initiative comes from music producer, composer and YouTuber Alex Moukala. Famous for his reviews of video game music and his funky coversthe videographer has this time launched the crazy project of interpreting FFXIV’s Endwalker expansion theme song, “Close in the Distance” at about 1,400 game community members.

We find in the video familiar faces from the MMO community as Susan Calloway or Amanda Achen. Announced last February by the musician, the song is the result of several months of rearrangement work by Moukala and Husky by the Geek.

This recovery is dedicated to the composer of the game’s music and by extension of the song, Masayoshi Soken as well as the development teams behind the MMO. Soken had revealed that since October 2020, he was battling cancerbut did not stop to compose for the game even in the hospital. The composer is now better and to pay tribute to his devotion and courageall proceeds from the monetization of the video will go to “good charities”.
