nearly 4 in 10 men have already shared intimate photos of their ex, alarming figures

A study by the Ifop survey institute was carried out for the Lemon site on the behavior of 15-34 year olds after a breakup. This reveals in particular that nearly 4 out of 10 men resort to revenge porn at the end of a relationship.

What is revenge porn, to begin with? This involves sending or distributing intimate and private photos of a person, without their consent. An absolutely infamous practice, in short. On November 6, the study carried out by the Ifop polling institute for the Lemon site on the behavior of 15-34 year olds after a breakup unfortunately revealed that many men resort to it.

In comparison, according to this same study, 14% of women aged 15 to 34 reported engaging in revenge porn, compared to… 40% of men. More than double. This with the aim of ‘getting revenge’ on an ex and damaging her image via social networks in particular. Maddening results, when we know what this type of act can cause. This can in fact be the cause of cyberbullying, i.e. harassment on social networks that can be very violent.

Jealousy within a couple: more present in women than in men

The study also focused on jealousy within a couple, especially with regard to ex-partners or companions. The study found that 86% of women say they are embarrassed by the idea that their partner is still seeing their ex in real life, compared to 75% of men. Furthermore, 79% of women said they had difficulty accepting the fact that their partner followed their ex on social networks, compared to 68% of men. The gap is much smaller compared to the survey on revenge porn.

However, these figures seem quite contradictory since 70% of men and 59% of women explain being open about remaining friends with their ex, after the breakup. This can nevertheless pose a problem for others, especially since 53% of respondents explained that they would argue with their partner if photos of their ex still appeared on their social networks.
