In excess, Western Digital announces two new external hard drives My Book, with nothing less than 22 or 44 TB of space.

The previous generation of this series offered as a reminder 18 or 36 TB, with a model in disk only, and another in Duo. But who says extravagant storage capacity, also says a salty price accordingly: respectively 572 and 1,300 euros.

We don’t stop the race for To

Western Digital’s My Book line never stops evolving, overall in a good way. Remember that, in 2017, the 20 TB Duo model was snapped up for the modest sum of around 700 euros. At this level, the new 22 TB model alone does better, since it is offered 130 euros cheaper.

With such monstrous storage capacities, Western Digital says these are the ideal companions for those recording 8K video in particular. Thousands of hours of recordings can thus be stored there without any problem.

The two new My Book models share 256-bit AES encryption and take advantage of Western Digital software for enhanced security through password protection and easy management of data backups.

Always in twos they go

In terms of the specifics of each model, the “smallest” of the new 22 TB My Books supports USB 3.2 Gen 1, with a Micro B interface on the back. The 44TB Duo also takes advantage of USB 3.2 Gen 1, but this time supports USB-C. It also has a hub with two USB 3.0 Type-A ports, for more versatility.

The Duo defaults to hardware RAID 0, but this can be changed to support RAID 1 or JBOD to provide some independence between drives. The top of the My Book Duo can be opened to remove discs and change them as needed.

These two new My Book models are already available, displayed as a reminder respectively at the prices of 572 euros for the 22 TB and 1,300 euros for the Duo 44 TB.
