Need for Speed: The next episode would be entitled to an artistic direction between elements of anime and photorealism

The next Need For Speed should logically land this year, after being postponed following the support provided by Criterion on Battlefield 2042. This new episode is still the subject of many questions, both on the platforms it targets and on the new features it intends to introduce. And about that, Jeff Grubb of Venture Beat seems to have some information, in particular on the artistic direction of this next opus.

An artistic direction between two waters

The journalist expressed himself on this subject in his program Grubbsnax, relayed by VGC, by declaring that the series was going to be entitled to a new visual identity which will mix two very different styles:

It’s going to be photo-realistic, but it’s going to have anime elements, too.. You know when you see an ad for a car or something and the car drives, but cartoon flames and stuff go off? This is the kind of aesthetic they seem to be after. »

Grubb specifies at the same time that certain elements of the old games will be back, such as Autolog (the in-game social network) for multiplayer, being able to customize all the parts of your car, and other things. He then recalls that the game should take place in Chicago.

We will certainly learn more this summer during the Summer Game Fest, even in the absence of EA Play Live.
