Google and Agence France Presse (AFP) sign an agreement on the thorny issue of neighboring rights. The Internet giant will therefore now pay part of the income it generates through the use of content created by AFP. This is the first agreement signed between Google and the news agency in the world.

The fight against disinformation integrated into this agreement

In detail, this agreement between Google and AFP is signed at European level and for a period of 5 years. It goes into effect this week. However, the amount remains confidential. The agreement also includes a program to fight disinformation. AFP will thus offer training in fact-checking.

Google had already signed an agreement last January on neighboring rights with several French press titles, united within the Alliance de la presse d’information générale. But those forgotten by this agreement were then moved to have been ousted. Among them, The Team and Point.
