Neoen signs a contract with BHP for the continuous supply of electricity in Australia

PARIS (Agefi-Dow Jones)–The renewable energy producer Neoen announced on Thursday that it had signed a contract with the Australian mining company BHP for the continuous supply of electricity for 70 megawatts (MW) in order to supply in energy the Olympic Dam mine, located in Australia.

“From July 2025, this contract will cover half of the electricity consumption of the Olympic Dam mine in South Australia, one of the world’s largest deposits of copper, gold and uranium”, said specified Neoen in a press release.

Under the terms of the contract, Neoen will supply the mine with green energy, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, as well as the associated certificates of origin.

Nearly half of the production of the Goyder South Stage 1 wind farm, under construction by Neoen, will be dedicated to this contract. The intermittency of wind power will be compensated through Blyth Battery’s storage capabilities and Neoen’s energy management expertise.
