Nestlé: Qualified as a ‘success’, the vegan KitKat is becoming widespread

(CercleFinance.com) – Nestlé announced on Monday that it was going to launch the ‘vegan’ version of its KitKat chocolate bar in 15 European countries after a successful trial conducted in the United Kingdom.

In a press release, the Swiss agri-food group explains that the ‘success’ of ‘KitKat V’ – offered since last year across the Channel – will encourage it to market the product in Germany, France, Austria, Denmark, in Sweden, Finland, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Greece and Portugal, Poland, Hungary and the Netherlands.

Its availability is also expected to continue in Great Britain.

Imagined within its research and development (R&D) center in York (United Kingdom), the original cradle of the KitKat brand, the ‘KitKat V’ is made from fair trade chocolate and abandons cow’s milk in favor of a rice-based alternative, which allows it to reduce its carbon footprint by 18%.

It will be produced on a large scale by the Nestlé confectionery in Hamburg (Germany).

Nestlé emphasizes that this success encourages it to continue to offer plant-based alternatives for all its products, from prepared meals to frozen pizzas, including desserts and ice creams.
