A release date… Olympic!

The action of Under the Seine takes place in the near future: Paris, summer 2024. The French capital is hosting for the first time, not the Olympic Games, but the triathlon world championships on the Seine.

But there is a (big) problem: a giant shark spends its vacation in the depths of the river. Sophia (Bérénice Bejo), a brilliant scientist, is alerted to the situation by Mika (Léa Léviant), a young activist devoted to ecology, and they have no choice but to team up with Adil (Nassim Lyes), commander of the river police, to avoid a catastrophe.

The film, written and directed by action and thriller specialist Xavier Gens (Hitman, Gangs of London, Farang) is released on Netflix just in time to scare swimmers registered for the Olympic Games: June 5!

The trailer, full of nods to the real sporting event which will animate the capital this summer and to the political figures linked to it, suggests a film that is both thrilling and distressing but also… a bloodbath .

Note the excellent use, in his images, of the nursery rhyme “Little fish in the water” which will stay in your head but adds an even more terrifying dimension to this enormous shark wandering in the Parisian waters. Under the Seine is therefore an unabashed genre film, which will undoubtedly try to stand out from the countless other shark films but which above all seems to promise us a great spectacle.

Hoping that the result will be more in the vein of Sea teeth that of Sharknado. So see you in June on Netflix to give up swimming once and for all.
