Netflix: after Vikings, Travis Fimmel is back in an astonishing new adventure series

Notice to Vikings fans, Travis Fimmel (Ragnar) is starring in a new series expected in January 2024 on Netflix. And it promises to be surprising.

Revealed in the series Vikings thanks to his legendary role of Ragnar Lodbrok, Travis Fimmel has become rare since he left Michael Hirst’s fiction. The Australian actor notably stood out in the film Warcraft: The Beginning and in the series Raised by Wolves. But he could well make his comeback in a new television work expected in January 2024.

The interpreter of Ragnar returns to his native lands for a promising detective drama adapted from the semi-autobiographical novel by Trent Dalton which has sold more than 160,000 copies in Australia since its publication in 2018.

Produced by Joel Edgerton and created by John Collee (Master and Commander, Happy Feet, Tarzan), The Boy and the Universe is an eight-episode limited series set in Brisbane in the 1980s.

In this initiatory adventure, the magic and innocence of childhood mix with the brutal reality of the adult world. An abandoned father, a brother who has become mute, a mother struggling with her addiction, a heroin dealer stepfather, and a notorious criminal babysitter…

Despite the obstacles that pile up in his path, Eli Bell strives to listen to his heart and understand what it means to become a good person. Everything changes when he answers a red telephone located in the basement of his house. Then begins a journey that will break his heart, before rebuilding it.
