Last December was released on Netflix season 2 ofAlice in Borderlandan excellent adaptation live-action from the manga by Haro Asō where the protagonists must participate in deadly games in a “parallel world” in Tokyo in order to survive and extend their visa. After the first phase in season 1 which basically adapted the first seven volumes, the sequel facing the figures staged the main events of the rest of the work. And yet, a season 3 was just announced this week. So what should we expect? Be careful, there will be slight spoilers at the end.
It all started around September 18 when the first of the visuals above was posted at a train station in Shibuya. To decode the message, you simply had to take the English name of the card signs (Spades, Heart, Diamond, Club) and associate the letter of their name with their value, which gave: “Alice Three”. Hidden in the background of the visual, the face of the Joker appeared. It is this same card that is present on the poster used to formalize season 3 ofAlice in Borderland.
The manga was entitled to a sequel called Alice in Borderland Returnthe logical choice would therefore be to adapt it. The problem is that it’s a two-volume story. just making us follow Ryōhei Arisunow a little older and expecting a child with Yuzuha Usagiand which will again be transported in Borderlands. Obviously, the writers can take liberties and offer original content, this would not be a first. What is certain is that they will appear, since Netflix has formalized the return of Kento Yamazaki (Arisu) and Tao Tsuchiya (Usagi) in their respective roles adding that we can expect to “witness the evolution of their characters in the ever-dangerous landscape of Borderland.” Director Shinsuke Satō will also return.
For now, the Joker card has appeared, announcing the triumphant return of Alice in Borderland. Fans can expect nothing less than an adrenaline-filled roller coaster as the series continues to explore deep themes of humanity, sacrifice and the pursuit of a meaningful existence .
Also know thatthere is a manga spin-off Alice on Border Road in eight volumeswhich makes us follow the young Kina Sano finding herself in the equivalent of Kyoto in Borderlands and will try to reach Tokyo in the company ofAlice Kojima, without a vehicle obviously. But since both main actors will be back, this option doesn’t seem realistic for season 3 unless there are big changes.
