Netflix announces 9 million additional subscribers, and outpaces the competition

300 million subscribers on the horizon?

Netflix’s financial results announcement is always a small event. The platform remains a barometer of global streaming, and has just confirmed its status with its Q1 (like “quarter one”, or first quarter) of 2024. Estimates were hoping for 3.93 million new customers, and these are ultimately more than double who engaged with the platform from January to March.

Thanks to its 9.33 million additional subscribers, the platform now reaches 269.6 million customers worldwide, and continues to outpace its rivals Prime Video (around 200 million) and Disney+ (150 million). As a reminder, Netflix had already gained 13.1 million new customers in the last quarter of 2023.

In detail and in descending order, these new Netflix subscribers come from the United States and Canada (2.53 million), the EMEA zone (2.92 million), Asia-Pacific (2.16 million ) and Latin America (1.72 million).

Finally, despite these excellent results, the platform has announced that it will stop revealing its number of quarterly subscribers from 2025, to the great dismay of fans of numbers and data like yours truly.
