Netflix has already expressed on several occasions its intention to develop in video games. After launching various games, the video-on-demand platform also intends to take advantage of its famous licenses. And the Los Gatos firm is walking the talk, since the association with Tender Claws will give birth to a game based on the universe of the platform’s most popular series in recent years: Stranger Things.

Announced during Stranger Things Day 2022, the video game will be released in the winter of 2023. It will be a virtual reality game, one of the specialties of the Tender Claws studio. With a first-person view, the immersion in a universe is all the more profound. But if the series Stranger Things mainly follows the point of view of children, Stranger Things VR puts the player on the other side of the mirror by allowing them to embody the famous antagonist from another world: Vecna.

Become an explorer of unknown realities by creating a hive mind and taming nothingness. Invade spirits and cause nightmares in your quest for revenge against Eleven and Hawkins,” reads the description of the announcement video and on the Tender Claws site. Netflix and Stranger Things had already tried the VR experience with a 360° YouTube video to watch in a phone headset. But this time around, the platform is diving into the deep end with a style of play that has yet to find a large following.
