Fire TV Stick 4K Max users have been complaining about crashes and error messages in the Netflix app since last fall. This is probably due to an error in the HDR playback of videos in 4K UHD quality – which is why the problem only affects customers with the most expensive subscription level. In the lower price levels, UHD streams are not even possible with Netflix.
However, you still have to wait for a technical solution in the form of an update patch – because the problem apparently still exists. But the resourceful users of the Reddit community have already found a workaround on their own:
If you want to watch your Netflix streams again without interruptions and error messages, you can switch off HDR playback via the app settings. So you will no longer be able to see the streaming images in the full range of contrast – but at least they will be fluid again.
