A small turn and then goes away. Not always flamboyant but very promising, Archives 81 will have been entitled to only one season on Netflix, the firm having decided to cancel it without any other form of trial. Still, this nerve-wracking series produced by James Wan and inspired by a hit podcast had done quite well, even surreptitiously reaching No. It must be believed that these results remained below the expectations of Netflix, which decides the fate of its projects according to the relationship between their success with subscribers and their production budget.
With its very neat universe, Archives 81 was perhaps too expensive in the eyes of the giant of Los Gatos. Unless the series is taken over by another platform, we will therefore not be able to see the continuation of the adventures of Dan Turner and Melody Pendras in the sinister Visser building and its countless mysteries. And that’s a shame.
