It’s the week of cancellations for Netflix which will not give a second chance to this super recent new series. And that seriously annoys a lot of subscribers.
It’s going to start to become a bad habit, especially at Netflix, but it’s the harsh reality of the world of video streaming – and incidentally that of Hollywood as well. There is little room for something new and/or original, and if it doesn’t work from the start, the platforms abandon the project “in the minute”. Just last week, actor Kurtwood Smith himself announced the cancellation of That 90’s show, without the service making any comment. The massacre continues since Netflix cancels yet another original series, it’s chaos.
Netflix is already saying goodbye to this series with a Jurassic Park star
Netflix subscribers may still be disappointed after this new decision, and some already are. It is through Variety, and via a deleted Instagram post from one of the actresses, that we discover that the series KAOS worn by Jeff Golblum (The Fly, Jurassic Park) is already nipped in the bud by the platform. And it’s rather a surprise because it was one of the new features for August 2024, which means that the firm with the red N is giving it up not even two months after its launch.
According to the American magazine, if Netflix throws in the towel and doesn’t give the product a chance, it’s because of the audiences. “The series spent four weeks in the Netflix top 10 upon release, but failed to garner a significant audience during that time” explains Variety. Aurora Perrineau, who played the role of Eurydice, expressed her sadness in a long post that is now unavailable. Here is an excerpt: “ Well…this one [l’annulation] hurts. It’s very difficult for me to explain how I feel, but I’ll try. When I started auditioning for this show, I knew it was special. Charlie Covell’s scripts resonated with me like nothing before. For one of the first times in my life, I felt truly proud. […] Thank you for allowing me to be your Riddy. I had the best time of my life » declares the actress after the cancellation of KAOS by Netflix.
KAOS with Jeff Goldblum already canceled, subscribers angry
The KAOS series is a revisitation of Greek mythology by the screenwriter of The End of the F***ing World, with a treatment that is therefore very different and original for many. “Zeus has long enjoyed his status as king of the gods… until one day, when he wakes up, he discovers a wrinkle on his forehead. A dangerous neurosis sets in from then on, followed by paranoia: Zeus is convinced that the end is near and sees warning signs everywhere.. And obviously, Netflix made a very big mistake.
A change.org petition has already been launched to try to save KAOS and have the right to at least a season 2. But it is by looking at the reactions to X that we especially see the disappointment and even anger of Netflix subscribers. “ It was creative and interesting. One of the few series that I watched until the end. What the hell! »; “ It was so good and no one talks about it! »; “ It’s a ridiculous decision »; “ Netflix intended to kill KAOS immediately. Hence the lack of significant marketing. They probably ruled on the cancellation months ago »; “ Get your head out of your ass »; “ KAOS was absolutely ruined by Netflix. It’s a series that would have had more of a place on Prime Video, Apple TV+ or HBO (Max) » can we read.
