Netflix: Chris Hemsworth plays mad scientist with Miles Teller in Spiderhead trailer

Expected next month on Netflix, the psychological thriller Spiderhead worn by Chris Hemsworth and Miles Teller is revealed through an intriguing trailer.

Before donning the Marvel God of Thunder costume in Thor: Love and Thunder on July 13, Chris Hemsworth will be starring in a Netflix film. And no, it’s not – yet – the sequel to Tyler Rake but a psychological thriller directed by Joseph Kosinski, the man to whom we owe Top Gun: Maverick, whose release is imminent.

Entitled Spiderhead and written by the duo of screenwriters behind Deadpool, the feature film is revealed through first images promising action and a Chris Hemsworth in mad scientist mode, carrying out increasingly delusional experiments.

In a state-of-the-art penitentiary run by brilliant visionary Steve Abnesti (Chris Hemsworth), inmates wear a surgical device that administers doses of mind-altering drugs in exchange for a reduced sentence. There are no bars, no cells, no orange jumpsuits“, reads the synopsis, which continues as follows:

At Spiderhead, incarcerated volunteers are free to be themselves. Until they are no longer. Sometimes they are a better version. Do you need to relax? There is a drug for that. Don’t know what to say anymore? There’s a drug for that too.

But when two subjects, Jeff (Miles Teller) and Lizzy (Jurnee Smollett), create a connection, their path to redemption takes a more twisty turn, as Abnesti’s experiments begin to push the boundaries of free will.

Spiderhead will be available on Netflix from June 17.
