After the success of Double Trap, Netflix and Harlan Coben are actively working on two new adaptations of his books.
It’s an undeniable success for Netflix. Since its launch on January 1, Double Piège has reached the heights and has become Harlan Coben’s best success on the platform. This British thriller fascinated subscribers who followed Maya (Michelle Keegan), a former soldier who investigates the disappearance of her husband.
This series is part of the deal between the American author and the streaming platform which has signed for 14 adaptations of his books. And in an interview given to the media Radio TimesCoben confirms that he is already working on two new projects:
“We still have a few books in stock. We are currently developing an adaptation of my book “Just a Look” in Poland. And we are also going to prepare something in South America.”
Harlan Coben and Netflix have indeed chosen to produce series in the four corners of the world. In the past, subscribers have been able to binge Spanish productions (Innocent), French (Disappeared Forever) or even Polish (Without a Word).
No season 2 for Double Trap: why is the Netflix series stopping despite its success?
A new adaptation for Just a Look
The book Juste un regard, released in 2004, is not its first adaptation. This thriller was brought to the screen in 2017 by TF1, with some modifications. Virginie Ledoyen, Thierry Neuvic, Arthur Jugnot and Julie Gayet were part of the cast.
This detective thriller still sees a heroine investigating her past: “What if your life was just a simple sham? What if the man you married ten years ago wasn’t who you thought he was? What if your whole world suddenly collapsed? For Grace Lawson, all it took was one look at an old photo taken twenty years earlier and carrying an incredible revelation for everything to collapse. His memories, his marriage, his friends: everything was a web of lies. But the nightmare has only just begun.”
As for the project in South America, we will have to wait a little longer before knowing which book it is. Still in this same interview, Coben reveals that he can release a new series every New Year: “They can watch our series while enjoying it!”.
