Netflix: New start page for the TV app – that’s suddenly different

Streaming service Netflix has adapted the start page of its app for smart TVs and streaming platforms – and the noticeably changed profile selection can already be seen on the first devices.

  • The Netflix app for smart TVs and streaming platforms has a new home page.
  • User profile login tiles are now on the side rather than in the middle of the screen, and Netflix ads take up the rest of the space.
  • In the browser version of Netflix, the start page with the profile selection is still displayed in the old format.

If you open the Netflix app on your smart TV or streaming stick these days, you could be in for a surprise: the start page, which was previously kept plain, is now a lift for content that can be seen on the streaming service.

Cover art like that of the new Netflix series “Wednesday” now adorns the screen extensively. This is completely new – after all, only the tile-shaped user profiles were previously offered for selection on a dark screen on the start page.

Also interesting…

This old view can still be seen in the Netflix browser display and it is currently unclear whether the streaming service will also implement the new look of its homepage in the web version.
