The fans of One Piece necessarily took a dim view of the announcement by netflix of a series live action based on their favorite franchise. Many struggle to see the license’s potential in live action, and some worry that the quality won’t exceed that of the adaptation of cowboy bebop.
What does it matter for netflix, which moved quickly on this production, quickly completing its cast and quickly launching filming. We have already been able to get a glimpse of certain boats being built by the teams as part of a making of video. We are still waiting to see the actors in costume to start judging on the spot: the time has not really come, but we discover for the first time officially Luffycamped by Iñaki Godoy, from the back for a teaser poster. Another image also shows the hero, Nami (Emily Rudd) Zoro (Mackenyu Arata), Usopp (Jacob Romero Gibson) and Sanji (Taz Skylar)always from behind and in front of the Vogue Merryjust to appreciate the main crew in uniform.
The poster is mainly there to give us additional information. While waiting for the release date of season 1, netflix confirms for the first time that the series will air in 2023, certainly towards the end of the year. This means that the production is progressing well and that we may soon be entitled to more visuals… Until then, the animated film One Piece Movie: RED is available on Blu-ray from 34.99 € in collector’s edition at the Fnac.
