Netflix: only a few days left to see this film in which we don’t understand anything Brad Pitt says

Don’t wait to see Brad Pitt again with a totally improbable accent in this detective comedy which will soon be leaving the Netflix catalog!

With a spectator rating of 4.2 out of 5 on AlloCiné, Snatch is one of the highest rated films in Brad Pitt’s filmography. Produced in the early 2000s, at the height of the American actor’s career, the role of the latter is among his most iconic characters – although it is only a secondary role.

When we love, we don’t count. Totally won over by Scams, Crimes and Botany, Guy Ritchie’s first feature film, Brad Pitt lets the English filmmaker know that he is ready to do anything to be in the casting of his second film. Even if it means lowering his salary expectations at the time (which an independent film budget obviously couldn’t afford).

Brad Pitt’s request was not ignored by Guy Ritchie who tailor-made for him the role of Mickey O’Neill, a boxer from the Irish traveling community, in his second film: Snatch.

Hired by two scammers to fix the result of a boxing match, the latter does not respect the accomplices’ instructions by finally sending his opponent to the mat with a single punch.

An “indescribable” accent

While Brad Pitt’s look in this film clashes with his image as a sex symbol of the time, it is especially his phrasing that left its mark. Unable to reproduce the London accent, the actor decided to invent his own dialect by adopting a diction that was almost comprehensible.

In 2011 on Jay Leno’s set, Brad Pitt looked back on his performance in Snatch: “Honestly, I don’t really know how to describe this accent. I didn’t really know how I was going to do it, and I was more focused on the fight scenes, because I don’t know how to fight. (…) But all the lines were written. I had already worked on my Irish accent in the past (in the film Close Enemy, editor’s note).”

This memorable collaboration with Guy Ritchie, however, did not have the taste of returning to it, since the two men have never toured together since, despite the bonds of friendship they have established. Never say never ?

Guy Ritchie’s film Snatch will definitely leave the Netflix catalog on December 14.
