Judged”original in its concept but a little too conventional in its form” in our review at the end of last August, the series Kaos will obviously not have attracted enough people for Netflix.

The streaming platform has just canceled the show hosted by Jeff Goldblum, released barely 40 days ago.

Kaos, not the expected love at first sight for Netflix

In an interview given at the beginning of September, its creator Charlie Covell (The End of the Fucking World) nevertheless seemed optimistic. He thus indicated that anything was possible regarding a renewal, while his dream was to produce a total of three seasons.

It specified in particular: “There’s definitely more to tell. I also didn’t want to make an ending that was a total cliffhanger. I hope it will be satisfying as a first season in its own right, and that there will still be some hope for the future because I would really like to do more and work with these actors and this crew. It was a bit of a dream come true..”

Netflix: Jeff Goldblum is the king of the gods in the curious trailer for Kaos

Unfortunately, as more and more often, Netflix has decided to cut short the hopes of man and fans. The fault undoubtedly lies in audiences considered too low.

Kaos will have spent four weeks in the top 10 of the platform, without attracting enough spectators. The series will have recorded only 14.9 million views in four weeks of broadcast, far too few to hope for anything.

Kaos

A “hurtful” cancellation

In a long post Instagram since deleted, Aurora Perrineau, actress who plays Eurydice, commented in particular that this cancellation particularly hurt her.

She states: “Everyone was brilliant and one of a kind. Each performance surprised and excited me. I can’t believe I got to do this with all of you. We created something weird, dark, hilarious, deranged and absolutely tragic – something entirely human. It’s a feeling I intend to take with me. Thank you for letting me be your Riddy. I had the best time of my life.

In KaosZeus (Jeff Goldblum) has long enjoyed his status as king of the gods until the day he wakes up and discovers a wrinkle on his forehead. A dangerous neurosis then sets in, followed by paranoia: Zeus is convinced that the end is near and sees warning signs everywhere.

Three mortals, Eurydice, Ariane (Leila Farzad) and Cenée (Misia Butler), are then destined to redefine the future of humanity.

The rest of the cast is not to be outdone, notably with the presence of David Thewlis (Fargo) in Hades, Janet McTeer (Ozark) in Hera, Cliff Curtis (Avatar: The Way of Water) in Poseidon or Nabhaan Rizwan (Station Eleven) into Dionysus.
