2023 was once again a great year in terms of the series. And, on paper, 2024 looks just as strong. In any case, here are the new series and new seasons to watch out for on your streaming platforms in the months to come!
After taking a look in the rearview mirror with the best series and seasons of 2023, let’s move on to the future with our main expectations for 2024. Many of the shows that we will discuss below do not yet have first images or exit window, but fortunately many others are more concrete. As usual, this overview is not exhaustive, do not hesitate to reveal your main expectations in the comments!
Long awaited returns…
Perhaps the series that most motivated me to write this article, Masters of the Air will arrive at the end of January on Apple TV+. For the record, this is the “sequel” to the war series Band of Brothers and of The Pacificonce again by Tom Hanks
and Steven Spielberg.
Let’s move on to Prime Video, which will not do things by halves, in particular thanks to the Warner Pass (before the arrival of Max in France, in any case). Besides season 4 of The Boys (no date), we are firmly waiting for season 2 of House of the Dragon (summer 2024) and season 4 of True Detective (January 15). On the new side, fallout (April 12) will definitely be a big one, while news on the series is also awaited God of War. We also expect a lot of The Penguinthe series derived from the film The Batman. Still on the series taken from films, Dune: Prophecy And Blade Runner 2099 may generate subscriptions.
…and promising new features
At Disney+, it will have been a long time coming, but we can’t wait to see Shōgun in February. At Marvel, because of the problems encountered by Disney with its MCU and its complicated production, it is not certain that Daredevil: Born Again comes out in 2024. But we keep our fingers crossed. We are also looking forward to the animated series Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man and are curious aboutEchothe spinoff ofHawkeye. At Star Wars, the promising ones Skeleton Crew And The Acolyte should arrive next year, unlike season 2 of Andor Unfortunately. We are eagerly awaiting the final season of The Bad Batch also. Finally, the series Alien by FX should make a splash in the Star section of Disney+.
Impossible to talk about series without mentioning Netflix. Besides the obvious Squid Game season 2 (still no date) and many other returns of successful shows (Arcana, The Umbrella Academy…), we are very curious about the adaptation of the Three-Body Problem by the creators of Game Of Thrones. Following the success of One Piecewe are also now up for the live action version ofAvatar: The Last Airbender. Waiting for season 2 of Sandman, Dead Boy Detectives should also be worth a visit. Several series taken from video games (tomb Raider, Assassin’s Creedetc.) should also attract crowds to the streaming leader.
Let’s not forget Canal+, never last to offer some solid shows of its own or from elsewhere. This is where season 5 of Fargo, which we are looking forward to. Finally, Crunchyroll will offer the highly anticipated anime from January Solo Leveling, while fans of The Walking Dead will want to monitor the identity of the broadcaster of The Ones Who Live (Paramount+?).
