While the highly anticipated season 4 of The Boys has just landed on Prime Video, Netflix has just announced the arrival of a new superhero series in its catalog. Enough to compete with Amazon’s cult show? The future will tell.
As you probably know, The Boys has just officially made its return to Amazon Prime Video this Thursday, June 13, 2024. Butcher, Homelander, Hughie, Starlight and the others return for adventures that we imagine are bloody.
And good news for superhero fans, another promising series will soon make its debut, on Netflix this time. Indeed, a brand new British show called Supracell will land on the platform this June 27, 2024. Behind this project we find Andrew Onwubolu MBE aka Rapmana British producer, screenwriter and director.
The 35-year-old artist found success with Blue Story Trilogy, an album in which he described the clash of two working-class London neighborhoods through the eyes of two of its residents (and friends). In his works, Rapman has never ceased to depict the problems of working-class neighborhoods in the English capital (unemployment, poverty, racism, gang war, etc.).

Supracell, the new superhero series from Netflix
This new series seems to be part of this lineage, with a touch of fantasy this time. “I know the superhero genre, but everything was done 100%. Supracell is different: it’s a superhero drama with normal people, real people, not people who are martyrs, not people who are going to save the world, just people who are trying to save themselves and their families”, he explains.
Inspired by series like Heroes or Misfits, Supracell tells the story of a group of five ordinary Londoners who suddenly discover superpowers. A man will then do everything to reunite them, in the hope of saving the woman he loves. The first Supracell trailer depicts a fairly dark atmosphere. However, we should be quite far from the gory excesses and the assumed ultra-violence of The Boys. So let’s see the result with this first season, which will be available on Netflix this June 27, 2024.
