Netflix will exclusively broadcast the action film “Hidden Strike” from July 28, bringing together Jackie Chan and John Cena in a post-apocalyptic feature film!
It’s a long-term project that is finally about to land on our screens. However, Jackie Chan’s new film will not be released in cinemas, but directly in streaming via the Netflix platform!
Announced in 2017 during the Shanghai International Film Festival, this film changed title several times during its production. Originally titled Former BaghdadThen Project Xit is finally under the name Hidden Strike that this feature film reaches us with an XXL budget of 80 million dollars.
Originally, Hidden Strike was supposed to pair Jackie Chan with Sylvester Stallone. This collaboration would have recorded the official reconciliation of the two superstars, scrambled since the beginning of the 90s for a dark case of plagiarism.
After several months of preparation, Sly finally stepped down in favor of John Cena, while the script for the film was largely rewritten.
Set in a post-apocalyptic world à la Mad Max, Hidden Strike depicts the operation led by a security contractor and a former American soldier to lend assistance to a group of workers entrenched in a factory. The group of villains who hold them prisoner are led by Pilou Asbæk (Game of Thrones).
Note that – chance of the calendar – Hidden Strike is not the only collaboration of Jackie Chan and John Cena to discover this summer, since from August the two action heroes will be reunited with the cast of the animated film Ninja Turtles Teenage Years in the roles of Splinter and Rocksteady (in the original version).
The action film Hidden Strike by Scott Waugh (also director of The Expendables 4, in theaters October 11) can be found exclusively on Netflix from July 28.
