Netflix: the creator of Walking Dead invited to conclude one of the most popular series on the platform?

It is one of the most popular series on Netflix and its final season is highly anticipated. The final episodes could be directed by Frank Darabont, who developed The Walking Dead.

Renowned screenwriter, director and producer, Frank Darabont is best known for his three adaptations of Stephen King’s works, The Escapes (1994), The Green Line (1999) and The Mist (2007), and for having co-written three horror films, The Claws of the Nightmare (1987), The Blob (1988) and The Fly 2 (1989).

But the Hungarian-born filmmaker also created, developed and wrote one of the most popular series of recent years: The Walking Dead, based on the comics of the same name by Robert Kirkman, Tony Moore and Charlie Adlard.

Even if this zombie series, broadcast from 2010 to 2022, is over, its universe is still exploited with numerous spin-offs, the latest of which The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon is a hit.

Besides The Walking Dead, Frank Darabont had no other major projects in recent years but it seems that the three-time Oscar-nominated writer, director and producer is returning to work on another very popular series.

According to Coming Soonwho took the information – to be taken with a pinch of salt – from The InSneider, Frank Darabont would be in discussions to direct the highly anticipated last two episodes of Stranger Things!

Netflix has not yet confirmed this information, which would in a sense be very consistent when we know that the work of Stephen King greatly influenced the series by Matt and Ross Duffer. These final episodes of Stranger Things are the subject of much speculation, but the creators have at least disproved one stubborn theory.

If the information turns out to be true, it would be a winning return for Frank Darabont, who had not directed a series episode since his fictional Mob City. The Duffer brothers and Shawn Levy (Deadpool 3) are expected to direct the remaining episodes of the fifth and final season of Stranger Things, which begins production next month.

The first four seasons of Stranger Things are available on Netflix.
