NETFLIX: The Duffer Brothers (Stranger Things) are developing a live-action Death Note series and an adaptation of Stephen King’s The Talisman

To continue to capitalize on the success of Stranger Things, netflix has signed a partnership with its creators to develop new projects for the platform, in connection with the license or not. While Season 4 has just ended, Season 5, which has yet to be written, will indeed be the last. Matt and Ross Duffer, however, are planning “more exciting stories to tell in the Stranger Things universe”, which they will produce with their new venture. Upside Down Pictures.

netflix just gave an update on the projects they are preparing for the service on the occasion of the announcement of the opening of this production company. This had already been confirmed a few days ago, a live-action spin-off of Stranger Things is well in production, but its story and the characters it will feature have not yet been specified. Otherwise, always in connection with the license, but not for the SVODthe Duffer brothers are working on “ a play set in the world of Stranger Thingsproduced by multi-award-winning producers Sonia Friedman, Stephen Daldry (The Crown, Billy Elliot, The Reader) and Netflix,” directed by the same Stephen Daldry.

In their boxes, there is also an original series from creators Jeffrey Addiss and Will Matthews (Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance) and a series adaptation of the book The Talisman by Stephen King and Peter Straub, which will be created by Curtis Gwinn (producer and screenwriter on Stranger Things). Probably the most mysterious and interesting project is the latest, “a brand new live-action television adaptation of the famous Japanese manga and anime series Death Note “. After the hit anime, dramas Japanese and the widely criticized American film of 2017, already released on netflixit is therefore in series in real shooting that the manga of Takeshi Obata and Tsugumi Ohba will live again.

After cowboy bebop and soon One Piece and Yu Yu Hakusho, another monument will therefore be revisited with real actors, certainly not for some time. What do fans often worry about even before seeing the first images of the adaptation? For latecomers, the bound volumes of Death Note are available from €6.95 per volume on Amazon.co.uk.
