Netflix: the filming of a French series interrupted following an incident

Last week, the filming of a French Netflix series had to be temporarily interrupted following a suspected gas alert. Luckily, the worst was avoided.

For several years now, Netflix has left a lot of room for French production on its platform. And if in general, filming goes smoothly, last week, the production of a French series had to be interrupted for a few hours following a small fright.

According to information from our colleagues from France Bleu, the Thaïs cave in Saint-Nazaire-en-Royans (Drôme), in which there were 26 people who were shooting the fiction, had to be evacuated this Wednesday, March 29 following a suspected gas alert.

Several members of the film crew would indeed have started to complain of headaches. After realizing that a gas detector indicated 3000 ppm (part per million) of CO2, production decided to evacuate the premises so as not to put its teams at risk.

Thirteen rescue workers then came to examine those present and also ensured that there was no danger in the cave. They found that it was CO2, not CO (carbon monoxide, a poisonous and odorless gas). Filming was therefore able to resume without incident once the environment was deemed safe for the crews.

Contacted by us, Netflix confirmed that the incident took place during the filming of Anthracite, a mini-series created by Fanny Robert and Maxime Berthemy, with Hatik and Noémie Schmidt in the main roles. Composed of 6 episodes, this fiction promises to be one of the next big events on the platform.
