Netflix: the programs not to miss in January 2022

Netflix is ​​starting 2022 on a small, but solid pace. The Los Gatos service notably sees three of its original series return to the forefront, Ozark, Heart plan and After Life, for three distinctly different atmospheres. He also offers us some films and series with intriguing pitches such as Mother / Android, The Munich vice, Archive 81 or The House.

For the rest, on the acquisitions side, we note the arrival in the catalog of The Exchange, a big forgotten film by Clint Eastwood, I feel good, comedy as always crazy by Delépine and Kervern, but also A Star is Born, big success of 2018 (yes, already) with a sparkling Lady Gaga and a Bradley Cooper in wreck mode.

The event of the month: Ozark, season 4, part 1, January 21

Casually, without making as much noise as other Netflix-branded behemoths, Ozark is already entering its fourth – and normally final – season. Season which will be, as is now customary, divided into two parts. While waiting for a release date for the sequel and end, we will already be delighted to find the Byrde family, led by the brilliant Jason Bateman and Laura Linney, after nearly two years of waiting. It’s hard to say too much about the plot not to reveal too much, but if you haven’t had the time to watch the first three seasons, you should take some time to do so before January 21. well worth it.

We are curious: Mother / Android, January 7

It’s a curiosity bought from Hulu that caught our eye this month. It must be said that the pitch arouses curiosity: Chloé Moretz as a future mother fighting for survival in a road trip American, pursued by androids who became renegades after an anti-human revolt. A mixture of many influences seems to run through the film, Son of man at I, Robot through certain very codified genres of horror. Nothing says that the work in question will be of the same ilk, so we will have to look at it to get to the bottom of it.

We will see again with pleasure: The Exchange, January 1st

Sometimes a little forgotten in the abundant filmography of Clint Eastwood, The Exchange is nevertheless a rather inspired and above all very touching feature film. Angelina Jolie dazzles in the role of a mother whose child has disappeared and who is being tried to pass on another to hide the incompetence and cynicism of the Los Angeles police. A story inspired by sadly real facts, told here with attention to detail to portray America in the first half of the 20th century, especially its contempt for women. Everything is formally quite classic, as often with Eastwood, but it serves the story perfectly, which does not need much to be poignant.
