Back to four billion years ago. This is where Life on Our Planet begins, an eight-episode documentary series produced by Steven Spielberg and the creators of Our Planet – the series narrated by David Attenborough, expert on the subject. This new program looks back at the first trace of life on Earth, the era of dinosaurs, their extinction and the appearance of human civilization.
In just a few minutes, the viewer is immersed in a real spectacle where each image, particularly aquatic, impresses. Life on Our Planet mixes visual effects and live action. The two intersect and the result is stunning. Behind digital – each episode contains between 30 and 40% – we find Industrial, Light & Magic, George Lucas’ company founded in 1975.
As for the “real” images, they were filmed in more than 45 countries around the world, including Ecuador, Ivory Coast, the United Kingdom and Morocco. Obviously, the History of the world had a completely different flavor when it was told by the legendary voice of Morgan Freeman.

This is not the first time that the actor plays the role of narrator for a documentary. He notably participated in the French film The March of the Emperor by Luc Jacquet – in its original version – which won the Oscar for Best Documentary.
Questioned by the New York TimesMorgan Freeman hopes viewers will understand how “life is tenacious” thanks to this film : “If we can get enough information out in time, things will probably change, but not for many of us. The planet itself is what is alive. And we don’t need to be here.”
What particularly attracts attention in Life on Our Planet is of course its ecological message and its warning about climate disruption which is undermining the millions of species that populate the Earth.
