Chris (Jacob Elordi, Nate in Euphoria and Noah in The Kissing Booth) meets Sam (Tiera Skovbye, seen in Once Upon a Time and Riverdale) and the current goes well between the two students. At the same time, Jorge, a businessman, meets Leslie, an air hostess, and they fall in love.

The happiness of these couples is veiled when Jorge’s innocuous cough worsens and Chris suddenly passes out, without explanation.

The true story (warning, big spoilers)

2 hearts is inspired by a true story, that of Jorge Bacardi, heir to the owners of the Bacardi rum brand. Misdiagnosed as having cystic fibrosis, it turned out that he ultimately had primary ciliary dyskinesia (upper airway disease).

It was only thanks to a transplant of the two lungs of a man named Christopher Mark Gregory, the “Chris” of the film, that he was able to survive until he was 76 years old. The characters of the student and the businessman of the film therefore have a connection which is only revealed in the last third of the feature film and grabs the spectators by surprise, immediately provoking emotion.

2 Hearts was originally scheduled to be released on September 11, 2020, but the Covid-19 pandemic led to theaters closing. The film was therefore pushed back to October 2020, but on September 23, 2020, Jorge Bacardi passed away, before he could attend the release of the film inspired by his life.
