If the mini-series format is a hit on Netflix, it’s not for nothing. In general, they bring together the same ingredients: few episodes, a strong story, a breathtaking pace and effective twists and turns.
Enough to rush into this type of fiction as soon as they are posted online on the platform. This new six-episode Swedish series is part of this ever-growing list which includes titles like Unbelievable, In Their Eyes, The Lady’s Game, Unorthodox, Maid, The 7 Lives of Léa and All the Light that we cannot see, more recently.

Adapted from the novel by Mattias Edvardsson, this miniseries tells the story of Stella Sandell (Alexandra Karlsson Tyrefors), a 19-year-old young woman accused of the murder of her boyfriend Chris (Christian Fandango Sundgren) and thrown in prison.
His parents, Adam (Björn Bengtsson) and Ulrika (Lo Kauppi), respectively a priest and a lawyer and very respected within the community of a residential suburb of Lund, are stunned. What happened ? They want to help Stella at all costs, but deep down, what do they know about their daughter? And about each other? Is she really guilty?
In six episodes, An Almost Normal Family immerses us in a breathtaking investigation into Stella, a young woman with a complicated background, from the first minutes of the series. It’s impossible not to feel affection for this adult in the making who was built on wounds and lies and who will find herself involved in a terrifying affair that is beyond her control.
An Almost Normal Family is based on a gripping narrative construction by adopting the points of view of the father, mother and daughter on shared moments but also on intimate moments, as well as on flashbacks, in order to bring together all the decisive elements until a moving and explosive finale.
Be careful however, the series deals with difficult subjects which may offend certain sensitivities, which is why it is not recommended for those under 16.
