Netflix: this star is in the credits of Russian doll … but we never see her in season 2!

Season 2 of Russian Doll is available on Netflix since April 20. Strange fact: a very famous actress appears in the credits of season 2 and yet we never see her on the screen! Explanations.

Spoiler alert! This article contains plot elements from Season 2, if you haven’t seen it, don’t read on.

If you started watching season 2 of Russian Doll, you might have noticed a familiar name in the credits. Actress Rosie O’Donnell – recently seen in The L Word: Generation Q or even I Know This Much Is True – is credited throughout the second season as a guest star, but she never appears onscreen. So what is its role exactly?

It’s the voice in the subway. She’s the one saying, ‘Next stop, Astor Place. Next stop, 14th street’“said Natasha Lyonne the co-creator and heroine of the series, Nadia, to Entertainment Weekly.

Much of the second season takes place on the New York City subway, which is Nadia and Alan’s (Charlie Barnett) unlikely means of time travel. For Natasha Lyonne, it was important that the person who lent her voice sounded like a real New Yorker.

It was very generous of him. I just texted her, because we knew we wanted a real New York accent. We were kind of walking the line, we were like, ‘Rosie Perez, Rosie… Mike Rappaport. Who does this part? And so I texted Rosie, and she started sending me these little voice memos“, recalls the actress and co-creator.

If season 3 of Russian Doll is ordered by Netflix, maybe we can hope to see Rosie O’Donnell make a wink appearance…
