After unveiling the TOP 10 most viewed series in 2022, Netflix has just published a new ranking dedicated this time to the most watched English-language films and series since its creation. Suffice to say right away, there are a few surprises!
Towards the end of December 2022, Netflix wanted to conclude the year by publishing its TOP 10 of the most viewed series in 2022. Very few surprises on the program, since we have logically found the flagship series of the last twelve months, like Season 4 of Stranger Things, Wednesday or Monster: The Story of Jeffrey Dahmer.
On the other hand, the streaming platform has just published a much more interesting ranking on its media portal this Wednesday, January 18, 2023. Indeed, it is possible to consult the TOP 10 most-watched English-language films and series on Netflixsince its inception.
Red Notice, Netflix’s biggest hit yet
The positioning of each film and series is calculated in hours of viewing over the first 28 days of broadcast. Regarding the films, we therefore find in the ranking:
- Red Notice (364,020,000 hours viewed)
- Don’t Look Up (359,790,000 hours viewed)
- Bird Box (282,020,000 hours viewed)
- Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery (273,200,000 hours viewed)
- The Gray Man (253,870 hours viewed)
- The Adam Project (233,160,000 hours viewed)
- Extraction (231,340,000 hours viewed)
- Purple Hearts (228,690,000 hours viewed)
- The Unforgivable (214,700,000 hours viewed)
- The IrishMan (214,570,000 hours viewed)
Red Notice, the action film starring Ryan Reynolds, Dwayne Johnson and Gal Gadot as headliners, is therefore for the moment the most watched film since the creation of the platform. A performance far from surprising for this feature film which brings together three of the most bankable actors of the moment.
More surprisingly, we see that bird box, an apocalyptic thriller with Sandra Bullock, remains in 3rd position more than four years after its release. Note that Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery made a remarkable entrance in 4th place, in just one month of operation!

Stranger Things continues to reign, Wednesday is hot on its heels
Now let’s come to the most popular English-language series on the platform. As you might expect, Season 4 of Stranger Things remains the most-watched series in Netflix history, with 1,352,090,000 hours viewed! However, we find in second position a newcomer, namely Wednesday Addams. The show produced and directed mostly by Tim Burton quickly climbed into the TOP 10 of the service’s most popular series.
