Netflix has released new images of two highly anticipated projects for the end of 2022. On the one hand, the (potentially stunning) Pinocchio in stop-motion by Guillermo del Toro. On the other, the mysterious biopic of Marilyn Monroe, Blonde hairwith Ana de Armas.
Among the most anticipated projects of 2022 on Netflix, two have so far been quite discreet. It’s done, the Los Gatos firm has finally lifted the veil on Pinocchio and Blonde hairambitious movies featuring big names, the likes of which we’re likely to see less and less of on the platform.
As Disney+ prepares its live-action replay, Netflix has revealed to Vanity Fair new sound pictures Pinocchio, after a first trailer released at the beginning of the year. We find there the abundant spirit of Guillermo del Toro, associated for the occasion with Mark Gustafson who had cut his teeth on the Fantastic Mr Fox of Wes Anderson as animation director. It is therefore a version in stop-motion which we will discover next December, with an undoubtedly political story since it takes place in fascist Italy in the 1930s. The whole thing is served by a five-star cast with Ewen McGregor, Ron Perlman, Tilda Swinton, Christoph Waltz, Cate Blanchett or even John Turturro.

Blonde hair will be released on September 23
In another register, Netflix finally seems ready to go out Blonde hair, his Marilyn Monroe biopic. Directed by Andrew Dominik, the film had been postponed several times, and it was rumored that it was its sulphurous content that had offended the decision makers in Los Gatos. It will finally be released on September 23, and it is therefore the talented Ana de Armas who will slip into the skin of the American icon. Adapted from the eponymous novel by Joyce Carol Oates, the film will show Marilyn’s journey by adopting her point of view so that the public better understands the character’s trajectory and complexity.
