Netflix: Wes Anderson has already finished his new film and the first info promises a grandiose work

While “Asteroid City”, the latest film from Wes Anderson, hits theaters on June 21, the director is already preparing his return with a new project at Netflix. The feature film is ready and the first news makes you want to.

Surrounded by his XXL cast, from Tom Hanks to Scarlett Johansson, Wes Anderson presented Asteroid City, his latest film, in competition on the red carpet of the 76th Cannes Film Festival.

Very prolific, the director is already preparing to release a new feature film, The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar, exclusively on Netflix. A project that marks the first collaboration between the filmmaker and the platform.

Fourteen years after Fantastic Mr. Fox, Wes Anderson is once again adapting author Roald Dahl. The film, which will contain four separate short stories, will be worn by Benedict Cumberbatch, Ralph Fiennes, Dev Patel, Ben Kingsley, Rupert Friend and Richard Ayoade. The actors will play a different role in each of these stories.

Cinematographer Robert Yeoman, a loyal collaborator of the filmmaker, told The Film Stage: “Three of these stories were shot in the studio. One takes place in the jungle so it was a real challenge to recreate all of that. And each of these stories has a distinct style.

We shot on 16mm and when I saw the finished film, I immediately wrote to Wes to tell him that I loved 16mm. Again, he’s pushing boundaries and it’s a very different style to what he usually does.”

The director of photography insists on the uniqueness of this project and says he is curious about the future reception of the film. The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar doesn’t yet have a release date, but it’s rumored that the feature could premiere at various festivals this fall, starting with the Venice Film Festival. In the meantime, Wes Anderson is already working on the preparation of his thirteenth feature film.

Asteroid City is expected in theaters on June 21 in France.
