Number 1: Sex Education

Samuel Taylor/Netflix © 2023

Maeve is now studying in the United States. Moordale High School has closed. Otis, Eric, Aimee, Isaac must therefore find their place at Cavendish High School, a very progressive establishment to the point where some are a little disconcerted… notably Otis, who discovers to his great dismay that he is not the only sexologist! He will have to prove himself to gain new patients.

Spectator ratings on AlloCiné: 4.1/5

According to Fred (5/5)

“What sadness! It was the last season. But before what joy to find the whole gang, and with new characters, new high school obliges. As usual I laughed as much as cried. The interpretation is always at the top . Gillian Anderson is hilarious in each of her scenes. So very sad, but it’s probably better to stop there and not make the season too long. One of the best comedy series of recent years.”

According to PENEAUD Naël (4/5)

“Sex Education is a great series. I really liked it up until then, but this season 4 leaves me wanting more. Not that there aren’t any new features, but the ending is rather botched, like the relationship between Otis and Maeve. The production is banal, so season 1, just Otis’s masturbation scenes are 1000 times better. The soundtrack is good, nothing to say about that. The story is not bad , but new characters are not very interesting. The relationships between the characters are really good and we believe in them but it hurts because we don’t want it to end that way. In short, Sex Education is a series that I will miss, it and its characters. It was a great adventure that will leave me with lots of good memories.”

According to DarkSwan31 (4.5/5)

“I just finished season four, and I came to AlloCiné to read the gossip… And there, surprise, I read the reviews of season four which were rather negative. So I’m here to set things straight! I have loved this season as much as the others. Certainly, the new high school is very “postcard”, but it is in the spirit of the series, inclusive. In this season, Otis’ mother is loose, both physically and spiritually , and this contrasts with other years, Gillian Anderson is once again very fair… We see Maeve in her new environment, certainly briefly, but spoiler:

the funeral episode is, in my opinion, very successful. The reviews are talking about Jacob and Ola leaving but, to be honest, I didn’t even think about it. So yes, in eight episodes, we don’t have time to fully develop the intrigues and we have to quickly reach the conclusion, but, please, don’t say that this season is a failure. Don’t miss it!”

Why does it work?

It is always difficult to say goodbye to characters that we loved and to whom we became attached. More than ten days after the release of this fourth and final season, Sex Education unsurprisingly still holds the lead in Netflix’s top series, ahead of Tapie, Chère petite and One Piece. These latest episodes disconcert some subscribers probably because of its more serious tone. The wanton teenagers of the beginning have given way to young adults who have already faced their share of trials and who are losing a little of their carefreeness to enter their new life, after high school. Laurie Nunn did not choose a spectacular finale for her dramatic comedy about the pangs of adolescence and the discovery of sexuality but a restrained farewell.

Number 2: Tapie

Netflix

From singer to businessman, from minister to prisoner, Bernard Tapie has experienced it all. Through his successes and his failures, the series retraces the romantic destiny of an extraordinary public figure.

Spectator ratings on AlloCiné: 4.0/5

According to Fabienne L. (4.5/5):

“I laughed a lot. Very enjoyable, this dive into the 80s and these current events which have marked my adult life. Extraordinary Lafitte and the Montgolfier scene – Tapie an anthology moment. Bravo to the whole team of making this superb series.”

According to ferdinand75 (3.5/5):

“A very successful series / Biopic. first of all a great production, a sustained pace, a good cadence, and substantial resources allow us not to go “cheap”. And above all L. Lafitte is fantastic, without wanting to stick or mimic the character manages to find the right tone, the right balance, he grows in power and manages to bluff us. The few liberties taken with historical truth are not annoying and allow us to balance the scenario, or to add a little spicy. Interesting from start to finish, beautiful page of history too. The confrontation of the Tapie-Montgolfier duo, probably the best sequence, superb writing, very lacy dialogue.”

According to elriad (5/5):

“Here is an excellent mini-series which retraces the extraordinary journey of this French self-made man, a jack of all trades for better and for worse. Laurent Lafitte is incredibly truthful, both in his voice and in his gestures. episodes prove to be fascinating. Special mention to Samuel Labarthe, impressive in the role of President François Mitterrand. The long face to face in the last episode between Tapie and judge Eric de Montgolfier is a pure delight. A success.”

Why does it work?

Despite the tornado Sex Education, which monopolizes the first place in the top views of Netflix, Tapie resists well and has maintained its second place for several weeks. Subscribers to the platform are convinced by this fictionalized biopic which retraces part of the life of one of the most admired and controversial personalities in France, masterfully played by Laurent Lafitte.

If biopics and other works based on real people have always fascinated the public, French subscribers were fascinated by the fictional transposition of the life of this multifaceted businessman and politician with many lives. AlloCiné spectators note the quality of the writing, acting, dialogues and reconstruction of the period.

Number 3: Dear little one

Netflix

Lena lives completely isolated in a highly secure cabin with her two children, Hannah and Jonathan. Their life is strictly scheduled, from meals to bedtime, including bathroom trips. When their guardian enters the room, they line up, show their hands, and obey him hand in hand. But one day, the young woman manages to escape. After a car accident that nearly cost her her life, she finds herself in the hospital with Hannah.

Spectator ratings on AlloCiné: 3.8/5

According to Renaud Morgenthal (4.5/5):

A slap. Released at the beginning of September on Netflix, the series “Chère Petite” tells the story of the escape of a woman and a little girl who escape from a monster sequestering them… And this has been happening for a very long time…. This relaunch a 13-year-old investigation….

But we must not trust appearances: as the plot progresses we realize that we do not always know who is who and what exact role each protagonist plays….

What emerges from this story (which inevitably brings to mind the Natascha Kampusch affair) is a heavy, murky and gripping atmosphere that keeps you in suspense. All served by good actors (the little girl who plays the rather frightening role of little Hannah is extraordinary).

To have !

According to Yasmine Kouyate (4/5):

This series is gripping from start to finish. For those who like dramas, you are served. We always want to know what happens next after each episode, a suspense that doesn’t let you go and little Annah is excellent.”

According to Damien Bescou (3/5):

“An interesting story but spoiled by the production, disjointed narration, actors without conviction (apart from the little girl), curious editing, the whole thing falls a little flat, without great emotions.”

Why does it work?

Nothing can stop Dear Little, the German series adapted from Romy Hausmann’s best-seller which, in addition to dethroning One Piece, continues to overtake it for its fourth week. No wonder this detective fiction has found its place among Netflix subscribers when we know that the platform has an impressive catalog in terms of true crimes and other crime stories.

Number 4: One Piece

netflix

Monkey D. Luffy is a young adventurer who has always dreamed of a life of freedom. Leaving his village, he embarks on a perilous journey in search of a mythical treasure, the One Piece, in order to become the king of the pirates! But to find this famous loot, Luffy will have to assemble the crew of his dreams then find a ship, crisscross the oceans, get rid of the Navy on his heels and prove to be a better strategist than the dangerous rivals who await him at every step.

Spectator ratings on AlloCiné: 4.2/5

According to Tayop (4.5/5):

“Without knowing anything about this manga, except for the images seen in a video game or on a cover, I must admit that this series has achieved what no other has done… make you want to catch up on all the volumes. The makeup, sets and accessories immerse us in a totally accomplished universe. The action is crazy and hectic. And we are just inspired to devour it. Can’t wait for season 2, while waiting for the manga. And congratulations to Netflix for collaborating with its author.”

According to Wiwi (4.5/5):

“Even if it’s for the youngest, for an old one like me I enjoyed watching this series. The characters are funny and my series holds up strongly in season 2.”

According to Hady P.:

“Not really a fan of anime, I’ve never really been able to get into a series like this. I said to myself, you don’t have anything to watch tonight, maybe try this film or live action mode as the other comments say (I I don’t know anything about it). Well, I let myself be taken in. The story and the characters may seem simple but yet it works very well. We become attached to the characters who come one by one to join this crazy crew but full of dreams to reach. I liked the moral which ultimately remains very simple but it is effective and well delivered. It reconciles me a little with the genre at least story-wise speaking. Perhaps a gateway to real anime within the rules of Art who knows.”

Why does it work?

It continues for One Piece ! The live action adaptation of Eiichiro Oda’s manga is still in the top 5 most viewed series, more than 1 month after its release. Good news for fans and for Netflix, which bet a very big ticket on it. If the American giant has succeeded in convincing fans, other subscribers will also have to be tempted. If season 2 is acquired, nothing is less certain for the next ones.

Number 5: Power Rangers Cosmic Fury

Netflix/Hasbro

When Lord Zedd returns, more powerful than ever, a team of Power Rangers sets out into the cosmos to defeat the evil Emperor and save the universe.

What do Internet users think?

Why does it work?

Go go Power Rangers! The brand new series from the franchise makes a thunderous debut on Netflix. The new performers of the armored superheroes couldn’t dream of a better debut on the platform, especially since fans of the license seem to have loved these first episodes of Cosmic Fury!

The launch of this new series follows the broadcast earlier in the year of Always towards the future, a nostalgic medium-length film marked by the great return of the original performers from the very first version of Power Rangers!
