Netflix: why the series Jurassic World creates controversy in the world?


Available on Netflix, season 5 of “Jurassic World: The Cretaceous Camp” sparks controversy after the broadcast of a sequence featuring two female characters kissing.

So the series derived from Jurassic World: The Cretaceous Camp, is coming to an end with a fifth and final season, a sequence from episode 9 creates controversy. Two of the show’s heroines, Yaz and Sammy, finally confess their feelings and exchange a kiss before the gang joins them.

On social networks, viewers express their dissatisfaction, saying that such a sequence is not suitable for a young audience. Asked by Comic Book Resourcesthe executive producer Scott Kreamer claims on the contrary this choice which he judges “important”:

Diversity and inclusion makes us all stronger. It improves stories and makes people better. For us, being part of this change is important. I’m glad we told the story the way we wanted to tell it… We worked with an advisor from GLAAD. We wanted to tell something authentic.

He pursues : “Animation for all ages has always been about the difficulty of being a child. If a young viewer can engage with our story and see themselves in these characters, regardless of race, gender, religion or sexual orientation, that’s what we want..”

Recently, another animated film, Buzz Lightyear, caused controversy for the same reason. A kiss between two women caused many conservatives to boycott Disney studios. The film has meanwhile been banned in no less than 14 countries in Asia and the Middle East.
