Lockwood & Co, the archetype of the popular series canceled by Netflix?

Obviously, this pitch seduced the spectators since at the time of writing these lines, Lockwood & Co is the second most watched series in the United States. Moreover, the early feedback is excellent, as evidenced by this perfect score of 100% on Rotten Tomatoes. Same observation for the score given by the public, with a very good 97%. Meghan O’Keefe, critic for the site Decider.com, recently declared all her love for the series, while pointing out the glaring lack of communication on the part of Netflix : “Netflix does as little as possible to promote the series. Lockwood & Co by Joe Cornish, which is shameful because I’m devouring the show and that’s good. It is very good. Chiseled scripts, well-constructed and fun universe, brilliant cast, and a fantasy version of London where young people are manipulated for profit”.

But will that be enough to save this series? Nothing is less certain, especially after the recent declarations of Ted Tarandos. A few days ago, the CEO of Netflix assured that “the platform has never canceled successful series”. However, there is no shortage of recent and old examples: Sense8, Warrior Nun, 1899, Inside Job, Uncoupled… Since the start of 2023, the streaming service has already canceled four very popular series. Every Tuesday, Netflix publishes its TOP 10 most watched series in the world. This will be an opportunity for us to quantify the success of Lockwood & Co… And to determine its chances of being renewed for a second season.
