Tragic forestry accident in Neumarkt/Stemk.: A farmer (30) from the Murau district was carrying out woodwork today. He was hit by a falling spruce tree and fatally injured.

In the morning, the 30-year-old farmer from the Murau district went into the forest alone and wearing protective equipment to do woodwork. He cut down several spruce trees with a chainsaw and transported them to the collection point with a tractor. When a relative went to check in the forest around 2 p.m., he found the young man lying motionless under a 20 centimeter thick spruce tree. The relative found the accident victim. The relative tried to free the accident victim with the chainsaw lying next to him and alerted the emergency services. However, first aid measures taken immediately could no longer save the young man. The emergency doctor from the rescue helicopter could only determine that the farmer was dead. The man was hit by the tree and was probably dead on the spot. Emergency services from the Perchau and Neumarkt fire departments rescued the man from the area. No evidence of foul play could be identified. Relatives are cared for by the crisis intervention team.
