Neumayer already Top 500 – Two wins within three weeks

Lukas Neumayer got the next tournament win. Like two weeks ago, the Pongauer won the $15,000 tournament in Antalya.

For tennis ace Lukas Neumayer, things continue to climb steeply. The Pongauer only won his first $15,000 tournament in Antalya in mid-February. The second followed three weeks later – again on the sand court of the Turkish holiday destination. After a two-set win in the semifinals against second-seeded Andrey Chepelev from Russia, the 19-year-old faced Andres Burruchaga (Arg) in yesterday’s final. Initially still too passive, the Radstadt native was able to win the first set 6:4. The second set clearly went to the “Gaucho” with a score of 6:1. With a more aggressive game, “Luki” attacked again in the third set and won the next tournament with a 6:2. “Of course I’m overjoyed, Antalya and sand just suit me,” grinned Salzburg’s tennis hope. Neumayer is making up ground in the world rankings and has already passed 500th place. The young star’s goal for the season remains the same: “I’d like to be close to 300 by the end of the season.” The form is right. It continues with another tournament in Antalya ($25,000), then the Salzburg player will serve in Croatia.
