Every end of the year, the ranking of personalities popular with the French enters the media landscape. On the evening of Saturday, December 30, the Sunday newspaper published the rankings in collaboration with Ifop. Not surprisingly, it is the indestructible Jean-Jacques Goldman who retains his first place for the seventh year in a row. Abbé Pierre and Commander Cousteau are the only ones to have won the prize more often than him. The interpreter of “I walk alone” is followed by singer Florent Pagny. To complete the podium, astronaut Thomas Pesquet was chosen by the French.
But this year’s ranking also has a surprise: the entry of a political figure into the top 50. Jordan Bardella, the president of the National Rally, rose directly to thirtieth place. “Never seen” according to the president of Ifop, Frédéric Dabi, who spoke in a press release. This is not, however, not the first time that a politician has made a place in the barometer : in 1988, the first year of the ranking, President François Mitterrand was ranked in third place. That year, fourteen political figures found a place in the top 50, including Bernard Tapie (10th), Jacques Chirac (13th), Jean-Marie Le Pen (43rd) and Georges Marchais (47th). But we will have to wait thirty-five years for a single one to rank in the top 50 from his first appointment. The president, Emmanuel Macron, was overtaken by the Minister of Education, Gabriel Attal, who went from 104th to 57th place.

A ranking that is still very masculine
To find the first feminine name of the barometer, you have to go down to 15th place, occupied by actress Sophie Marceau. She is followed by the host Karine Le Marchand (18th), or even the actresses Alexandra Lamy and Virginie Efira. Only eighteen women appear in the list.
