Nevers: a clandestine suspected of the rape of a young disabled woman

A 32-year-old man of Ivorian origin in an irregular situation was indicted and remanded in custody for “rape”.

The facts took place this Tuesday, May 10 in Nevers (Nièvre). An 18-year-old woman with a disability had decided not to return to the medical-educational institute (IME) in which she was boarding after her day’s work, because of an argument with her boyfriend.

She then decided to walk around town, but she got lost and couldn’t find her way.

Heard by the authorities, she said she was approached by a man around 7 p.m., before he “brought her back to a friend’s house, and raped her”.

THE SUSPECT DOES NOT RECOGNIZE THE FACTS

The victim finally managed to escape and take refuge in a bar where she asked for help. The people present in the establishment managed to neutralize the suspect, who was following the young woman, before the arrival of the police on the scene, around 8 p.m.

The attacker denied the facts and claims to have had a “consented” relationship with the young woman. He was indicted for “rape of a vulnerable person” according to information from the Center newspaper.

He will have to explain himself to a judge from the criminal center of the Bourges investigation, where he was transferred this Thursday, May 12.
